FAST! Fix A Shaft Today! Workshop

DMG and BLM hosted a Fix A Shaft Today or FAST! Workshop in Barstow, California on Thursday, November 6, 2008. FAST! is a National BLM partnership initiative for eradicating unsafe abandoned mine land features. FAST goals are:

1. Develop partnerships which result in the donation of time, labor and use of mining equipment to aid in closing dangerous mine shaft and structures.
2. Encourage knowledge-sharing and technology transfer among government and stakeholder groups.
3. Solicit technical volunteers from wildlife agencies, academia, bat enthusiasts, and amateur archeologists to assist with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) clearances.

This one day workshop was held in Lenwood at the Hampton Inn & Suites near Barstow, California.
